[URGENT APPEAL FOR INFORMATION]
Another wandering illegally-kept primate has been found.
Last night, our rescue team was alerted to a brief sighting of a marmoset (monkey) at block 271D Punggol Walk.
We scouted the site and interviewed residents. Working against time was critical if we had to ensure the marmoset survives his new environment. Thankfully Mr. Ndi, a resident who spotted and contained the animal, alerted us. The marmoset will be handed to the zoo.
We are appealing for any information that may help us with this investigation and potential case of abandonment. Please email our ACRES Crime Investigation Unit at acrescrime@gmail.com
All information will be kept confidential.
The illegal pet trade is still very much rampant in Singapore and the cruelty behind captive wildlife for the illicit pet trade is unjustified. Just in April this year, four marmosets were found abandoned at a clinic’s doorstep in Singapore.
If you have information pertaining to sale, import or possession of such prohibited wildlife, please report to the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore at https://csp.ava.gov.sg or send an email to acrescrime@gmail.com
