RESERVE 18 MAY 2024 FOR ACRES GALA: WILD SECOND CHANCES

Meet Barni, a magnificent Malaysian male giant turtle weighing 11kg. He represents resilience and hope in the face of adversity. Barni’s story begins with captivity. He was kept illegally as a pet, possibly poached from the wild and sold to someone. Illegal wildlife trafficking deprives these animals of their natural habitat and freedom. But fate had other plans for him. Thanks to collaborative work in 2019, ACRES was able to give Barni a second chance in the wild in Malaysia.

As an endangered species, Barni’s journey symbolises the plight of countless #wildlife around the world, and many other animals who live in captivity for human use.

On 18th May 2024, we will be coming together to celebrate stories like Barni’s and raise funds to support our tireless efforts to give rescued wildlife a second chance in the wild and a better quality of life.
