Run Free Brownie Boy 2010 - 2022. Rescued 11 Years..

RUN FREE BROWNIE BOY (2010 – 2022) 🌈🐶

Rescued 11 years ago, Brownie was one of the sweetest residents at ACRES! One of our team members put it perfectly:

Bed is your fortress, even without a mattress;

Always resting, except when you’re running!

Pets, naps and runs are the three most important things for Brownie! Brownie came in as this shy boy with big brown sad eyes, awkward with himself. In late 2016, he opened up to people, demanding pets under the table during meetings so much, we had to include ‘petting and walking Brownie’ in our internship roles! Brownie also appreciated clean sheets & soft toys and is the first to climb onto freshly laundered dog beds. In our office, he was often caught snoozing or sitting in a corner staring at random objects. He was smart in asking for exactly what he wants, making it easier for his humans.

Daily morning one hour long walks into the sunrise meant so much to him (and his human), even as he grew older with arthritis. As we walk Mocha (the only diva girl left) every morning now, every blade of grass, roadside flower (and lamp posts) reminds us of him and his fondness for walks. 💔

If you have visited or volunteered at ACRES, you’d have probably gotten pawed by him for stopping petting him, or saw him basking under the sun at the carpark! In less than a month, he succumbed to paralyses from various causes, and deteriorated very fast despite pain management and a cart to walk. With a heavy heart, we decided to let him go when he rejected food and water.

Our heartfelt thanks to Dr Nelson, Dr Ly, Kelly and the kind nurses at Animal Wellness Recovery Centre for your kindness, support and keeping him comfortable during these three weeks and to Brownie’s dear friends Sabrina, Charlene, Dr Vilma, Carmen, Sam and staff/ex-staff members who helped in many ways round the clock for his palliative care and vet visits!

Here are some photos showing this handsome boy’s free-spirited, goofy, awkward, chill and confident sides!

We will miss you Brownie Boo, run free now 🤎🤍🤎🌈🐶
