WELFARE FOR BIRDS KEPT AS PETS – CASE 2

As our report released last month (https://bit.ly/ACRESBirdReport2022) highlighted concerns with recommendations, we continue to receive feedback from concerned members of public about bird keeping conditions. Thanks to the member of public who informed us of a Galah cockatoo kept in a cage, left in the basement that appeared to be undergoing renovation.

We would like to thank @nparksbuzz for following up on this case and advising the owner on bird keeping. The bird has also been moved back home from the basement by the owner.

Food for thought (on commitment) : Did you know that these cockatoos, native to Australia have a captive lifespan estimated at 40 years, with 72 years reported as a record age?
