At Blk 694D Woodlands Drive 62, glue was maliciously applied on public drain covers, pipes, and parapets. This cruel act aimed to lure birds with mealworms scattered across the area, tragically ensnaring two mynas.
The brutality of glue traps continues as every movement intensifies their suffering. Feathers, skin, and even eyes can become painfully stuck. And unfortunately, if these mynas had chicks waiting for them in the nest, they would never return.
Our caregivers work meticulously cleaning each bird feather by feather, while allowing the birds to rest in between. The process is slow and gentle to minimise stress, but many do not survive the ordeal. Those who do, like these two mynas, are given a second chance at freedom.
The town council has been alerted and will monitor the situation. If you live in this area and spot such activities, please report it to crime@acres.org.sg.
We’re grateful to the concerned caller for alerting our Crime Unit and helping to contain the birds safely. We also appreciate those who choose kind, responsible solutions over cruel glue traps by addressing food availability issues.
