This is Spike and he had wandered into someone’s compound. They had kept him for a few days but because the neighbour complained and threatened them – they went and left him near some shop houses. When we told that we would help, the person concerned, who has since left for overseas to work, went and got him back and gave us RM1,000 to set his life on the right path. We have neutered and vaccinated him and placed him at a boarding place which costs RM55 a day without food. We need to clear about RM650 at the boarding place as we cannot get it from her rescuer as she is not in the country. Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better is a canine welfare programme initiated by non-profit organisation Community Development and Integration Initiative (CDII).

MDDB's main activities revolve around rescuing dogs from the local council pounds as well as off the streets. Once they have been rescued, the dogs are vaccinated and neutered before being put up for adoption.
