SPCA Selangor Q1 2024 Update: Pivoting to Support Rescuers and Volunteers
In the first quarter of 2024, SPCA Selangor has made significant strides, and we’re excited to share our new focus for the year. While we have historically provided shelters for animals, we are now pivoting to allocate more resources towards supporting rescuers, volunteers, and other shelters. This strategic shift is a response to the growing number of surrenders and rescues, coupled with declining adoption rates.
Introducing Potong Royong
Potong Royong is our flagship project, providing subsidized and professional neutering services to directly benefit the rescuer community and alleviate the burden on shelters. This initiative aims to control the animal population humanely and sustainably. The project also supports the “Stray Free Selangor” initiative by introducing sterilization programs to the municipal councils, replacing inhumane catch and kill methods.
Why This Change?
Given the unique position of SPCA Selangor as the only organization capable of offering such subsidies and services, it is logical to leverage our strengths to support the broader animal welfare ecosystem. By doing so, we can maximize our impact and ensure that more animals receive the care they need.
Moving forward, we will reserve all available spaces for post-op boarding and rehoming specifically for rescuers and volunteers. Post-op boarding is optional and available upon request. For more details, please contact our clinic when making an appointment.
Thank you for your continued support as we embark on this new journey to enhance our community’s efforts in animal welfare.
