Featherimping To The Rescue. Firstly, We Really Do..

#FEATHERIMPING TO THE RESCUE

Firstly, we really do not know why wild birds are found with their wings clipped 😭😠. An ancient technique of mending #feathers 🪽 comes in handy, to help these poor #birds whose wings are clipped by people. Our #WildlifeVetNurse and #WildlifeVet 👩🏻‍⚕️👨🏻‍⚕️have been carefully maintaining a library of feathers collected from birds who are healthy, but may pass from accidents. 🐦 If the life stage and #species match (colour match is not so crucial for birds such as #pigeons), we use the donor feathers to be implanted to the bird whose #flight feathers are damaged. Featured here is a (grey) rock pigeon who received brown feathers 😃 and a black-naped oriole. #FeatherImping has helped to minimise the recovery period greatly, so the birds can be released back to the wild, without having to spend time in #captivity. If you like the work we do for the #animals, please support with a gift of #compassion this #GivingSeason 🙏🏽! #LinkInBio
