✨VON SCHRENCK’S BITTERN ✨With a fancy name, and the word “bitter” in their names, bitterns are one of the hardest to care for in captivity – They get very stressed in captivity, and always attempt to peck our vet/nurse’s eyes 👀, when they are trying to treat 🩺 or care for them! Plenty of privacy, quiet and patience is required when treating these birds. Rescued grounded at a residential estate near Jurong Lake gardens on 3rd Nov, this Von Schrenck’s bittern was treated for spinal and head contusion. After one month of recovery, rest and rehabilitation, the bittern was released on Monday (04 Dec)! 🎉 HOORAY! This rainy season is also a migratory season 🌏, and we have a high influx of #migratorybirds like this #bittern, all the way until March/April. #BirdsOfSingapore #SgWildlife #BitternsOfInstagram #MigratorySeason #BirdsOfInstagram #wildlifeRescue #Wild #AvianVetMed #vetMed #HeadContusion #SpinalContusion #AvianRehab #BirdRehab #JurongLake #JurongLakeGarden #CityInNature #VonSchrencksBittern #Ixobrychus #IxobrychusEurythmus
