GIVING TUESDAY TODAY

We’re so excited to tell you that from today until December 7th donations will be matched by an anonymous benefactor —allowing us to unleash some very special emergency missions. If you’ve been thinking of making a year-end donation to Harmony Fund this is the perfect time to take advantage of the opportunity to have your donation matched. Not only that, we’re planning to use those matched donations to help in 3 emergency situations described below.

#1 In Romania, 50 dogs have just been found living at the edge of the forest. The dogs were dumped there, usually one at a time, by families who no longer wanted them. Others were born there and have never been touched by humans. Our partners at the Sache Veterinary Clinic have already collected and sterilized half the dogs and are working on gathering the rest. They do so at their own risk as the men in that area are aggressive and throwing firecrackers at them. The volunteers are trying to put together makeshift shelters until they can figure out where to place all these dogs. Food alone is going to cost $1,300 a month. With the double donations, we’ll hopefully be able to sponsor food for all these dogs for the winter months while the local team works on a solution to get the dogs to a place of safe shelter.

# 2 Also in Romania, our partners at Every Life Counts rely on donations from us to operate their shelter and rescue program. They need extra help for veterinary debt that has accumulated from the large number of rescues they undertake for animals who are hit by cars or discarded by their families when they become sick or old. We’re offering to pay the veterinarian in full so that their essential rescue operations won’t come to a standstill in the middle of winter.

# 3 The Give Me a Paw animal shelter in Lebanon is hanging on by one very thin thread. Increased abandonment and little interest in adoptions have created the perfect storm for financial crisis. They have been forced to close intake and it is breaking their hearts. In their own words: “We need to temporarily pause our rescuing efforts. Our shelter is in crisis with zero adoptions in sight and insufficient funds to cover our substantial monthly expenses. We are struggling to provide food for our animals, keep a roof above their heads and pay our bills. We are in serious trouble.”

Harmony Fund’s goal is to sponsor a large food supply which will significantly relieve financial pressure.
