The coral reefs are looking good in Tun Mustapha Park (TMP):
✅ Fish bombing incidents were significantly reduced, surpassing the initial 25% target with a remarkable 47% decrease.
✅ 0.108 ha of degraded reefs have been rehabilitated.
✅ Over 15,000 coral fragments from 30 coral species across eight families were affixed to 1000 reef stars.
⭐ And the coral reef ecosystem is going to look even better in TMP: Together with Sabah Parks, we hosted a workshop and solidified Sabah’s first coral restoration roadmap for Marine Protected Areas, co-created with representatives from government agencies, community organisations, tourism operators and research institutes.
Here’s to more coral reefs that support both nature and people. Thanks to partners who stand with us in striving to protect 30% of seas of coasts by 2030. #TogetherPossible
This project is led by GOPA, together with consortium partners B&S Europe and WWF-Malaysia, and funded by the European Union.
