EVER FELT YOUR HEART MELT WATCHING ONLINE VIDEOS OF MONKEYS IN CUTE OUTFITS? 🐒💔
But here’s the painful truth: These videos portraying them with outfits, make up, being bathed or staged rescues [from pythons for example] have a grim backstory. These macaques, are often taken from the wild, kept as pets, and forced to perform, enduring unseen suffering and abuse.
Abuse isn’t just physical; it’s emotional and unseen. The recent @AsiaForAnimalsCoalition SMACC report uncovers this hidden cruelty. It’s time we realize, understand, and take a stand against online animal cruelty. As a member of the AFA Coalition and SMACC, ACRES appeals to every one of you to be aware and become part of the solution by not engaging or forwarding such content.
Did you know that engaging with such posts inadvertently promotes them? Every like, share, or comment boosts their visibility, working against our cause. Such engagements also allows such content creators to monetise the content, incentivising them to create more abuse content.
So, what can you do? Never engage with posts that exploit macaques and other primates. Report to platforms for removal and express your concerns. Your voice matters. Together, let’s push for a cruelty-free online world for our primate friends.
Educate yourself and others! Every effort counts. 🌟
