有的人认为当河龟咬人，它不会放口。这个想法其实是错误的。这误会来自美国，因为那儿关于本地的拟鳄龟有个俗语：“当拟鳄龟咬，它不会放口，直到雷响为止”。其实，你只需要等待一会儿，它就会自动放口。逼它放口反而可能使它咬得更厉害！

为了避免被河龟咬，我们不应该惹它们。此外，也尽量把手远离它们的嘴巴，因为它们有可能误视你的手为食物。所有拥有嘴巴的动物都能够咬人，所以我们应该好好对待它们。

Have you ever heard that when a terrapin bites, it won’t let go? This is actually a myth! It originates from the US, where snapping turtles are found, and there is the saying “if a snapping turtle bites you, it won’t let go until it thunders”. In reality, it will release if you just wait. Trying to force it to do so might backfire and cause it to bite harder!

To avoid being bitten by a terrapin, you should treat them with care. Avoid provoking them, and keep your hands away from their mouth, as they might mistake your hand for food. Remember, all animals with mouths can bite, so we should treat them with respect.
