Still Using Glue Traps?. Glue Traps Are Widely Use..

STILL USING GLUE TRAPS?

Glue traps are widely used to kill rodents, but they don’t eliminate #rodent problems, as the root cause often does not get addressed. They are ineffective, inhumane and dangerous. It may seem like a quick fix – visually showing you the rats who have been biting through your food containers, ‘spreading’ germs and destroying your bins have been caught (and killed after much suffering). But if they were so effective, why are they still being so widely sold and used?

Here is a collared kingfisher who was rescued from a glue trap in November 2022 (image 2). It took us more than one and a half months to fully rehabilitate this wild #protectedspecies before releasing back to the wild (image 3). Last week, we rescued another kingfisher who did not pull through. (image 1).

Would you please share what other humane methods have helped resolve/minimise your rodent problem?

We will start first:

🏠We meshed up gaps under roof preventing access to ceiling spaces

🗑 We clear our trash daily

🔒 All our food is stored in metal containers or metal cages

🚯 We enforce that staff/volunteers do not leave food waste/leftovers in sinks or counter tops.

🐍 We have some wild pythons who do their jobs.

🌳 We have pruned vegetation close to roof that provides access

🐭We have wild rodents who may come by, but do not have an infestation.
