Wrapping up the #remembranceoflostspecies campaign with a highlight on the iconic symbol of Malaysia, the Malayan Tiger. 🐯

The Malayan Tiger is a national icon and can be seen everywhere, from Malaysia’s coat of arms to the emblems of government and private institutions that symbolises dignity, ferocity, sternness and courage.

It’s a subspecies of tigers that exists uniquely in Peninsular Malaysia. #Didyouknow that no two tigers have the same markings? This unique features represents individual identification, much like fingerprints for humans.

.

Although they are an apex predator, the Malayan tiger’s population are not susceptible to threat of extinction through illegal hunting, wildlife trade, habitat loss and lack of food source. Illegal hunting is the biggest threat tigers face as they are an extremely valuable trophies, ornaments and their organs and body parts for traditional medicine. While its meat is served as exotic dishes.

Several campaign initiated by agencies and organisations to save the remaining tiger population through long-term and sustainable conservation strategies and awareness programmes.
