TOWARDS A COMPASSIONATE FUTURE FOR URBAN BIRDS 🕊️🐦
We attended two meetings with Ang Mo Kio Town Council last week, on the topic of pigeon management. AMKTC has stopped the use of poison to manage pigeon populations since last year, recognising the ill effects. We are glad that the TC is engaging in discussions with ACRES, SPCA and NParks to work on long-term solutions for managing the pigeon population! Sincere thanks to Advisors Ms Nadia Ahmad Samdin @nadiaahmadsamdinSG and Ms Ng Ling Ling @NgLingLing72 for taking the time to meet us.
You can also play a part by
🍜 Managing your food waste properly;
🍞 Educate feeders not to do so; and
🐦 Considering exclusion methods such as netting for aircon ledge where they may nest.
You can also write to your town council and voice your concerns on poisoning methods.
Together with SPCA Singapore, our Wildlife Management Team has reached out to all the town councils in Singapore, to initiate discussions on moving towards holistic measures in the long run, to manage urban birds population, focussing on food reduction and habitat modification approaches.
