We’re getting ready for the upcoming terrapin nesting season!

Every year, female terrapins emerge to nest in January/February. The nesting season is pretty short, with an average of 30.3 days. Green turtles, on the other hand, have been observed to nest for up to 3-4 months in a season.

Our Terrapin Guardians are making the necessary preparations, i.e. clearing some vegetation to make a path to the riverbank. This ensures that our Terrapin Guardians do not slip on their way down to the river in the dark.

We’ll hit the river soon for our preliminary surveys. Hoping to spot some terrapin heads breaking water!

The Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia was established in October 2011.
