CIVET FOUND DEAD WITH DART: BAN THE SALE OF BLOW DARTS IN SINGAPORE?

Thanks to a concerned member of public who shared with us about a civet found dead with a blow dart.

Since February 2020 until March 2021, we have received several cases of pigeons found with blow darts to their body and eyes in Jurong west, Tampines bus interchange and Tampines street 21. (https://www.facebook.com/ACRESasia/posts/10158613614166523)

With no further leads to these investigations, we had appealed to all of you for information on anyone using these blow darts.

Today, the blow dart found on the civet has a thicker steel shaft which can cause serious injuries to not only animals, but also humans. Needless to say that, human abuse often begins with abuse of the voiceless animals.

ACRES does not see a need for sale of such blow darts and even blow pipes in Singapore, which are easily available online on Shopee, Wish, Lazada, Carousell and more. We had appealed to the police through police reports in 2020 and also in March 2021. We sincerely hope that the Singapore Police Force will look into this matter urgently and ban the sale of blow darts in Singapore.
