Acres Slams Pest Control For Manhandling Python At Jurong West With 'Total Disregard For Animal Welfare'

HANDLING OUR PROTECTED URBAN WILDLIFE
As Singapore evolves into a “city in a garden” with habitats enhanced by the NParks, wildlife will be attracted inevitably. Many of us enjoy sightings of otters and hornbills, and treasure watching wildlife in green spaces.
ACRES was very concerned on the recent case of a python being mishandled and it was a difficult video to watch the python being handled this way. Would we be okay if another equally protected wild animal is handled the same way?

We are heartened by comments from individuals who care about welfare of these wild animals, and we do realise that there is still a long way to go (towards coexistence) from the other comments. We also sincerely hope that NParks will serve a stronger deterrence as many such previous incidents ended with advisory issuance.
For some who may feel that force is absolutely required for handling pythons/monitor lizards, here is one sample handling of a python, from a recent rescue case handled by ACRES: https://stomp.straitstimes.com/singapore-seen/25-metre-python-snaking-outside-beach-road-hostel-gets-rescued-by-acres?fbclid=IwAR34sPuZLOtO0BAl5bPo8Mz_1gvIxH9a5WnsIpdDmvHAjIMN9Uzu8xN6B-I
