Nearly every rescue team we sponsor is terrified of their animals going hungry. Especially in countries that do not manufacture animal kibble, the closing of national borders and abrupt halt of importation of pet food is creating the most urgent form of need we’ve seen in a long time.

“Turkey is going into lock down,” Karen at the Turkish Rescue Group explains. “We are not supposed to go out… As it stands we have 4 days food which I bought today and that includes meals for today. So enough until the 19th. 20th we are out and if I can’t go out or buy food, the dogs and cats can’t eat!”

We have been sending emergency aid to Venezuela, Serbia, Bosnia, Turkey and Romania to buy food. One of our Venezuelan rescue teammates had to search numerous places yesterday only to find the last three bags of cat food. We, of course, instantly sent money for the food.
