Dogs in Romania Receive Food

Recently, we came to you for help with a dog pound in Romania. We needed help providing food to the dogs over the holiday period and you all came through for the dogs with a tidal wave of support.

The dogs have been eating and we are in very fragile discussions about reform measures as municipal pounds have a history of shutting out volunteers if they feel offended or criticized. It’s hard to acheive the massive changes we have in mind when we have no authority or leverage. It will be a process, and a slow one, but we are truly invested in seeing this though.

Because this pound does provide poor living conditions, we don’t have warm photos to share. The dogs have been receiving food, but only by staff at the pound as volunteers were not permitted to feed or interact with the dogs, with the exception of one sick dog who we brought to the veterinarian and who will not return to the pound.

This is the hard reality of animal welfare. Progress is sometimes slow and can require us to bite our lip so hard we could go straight through the other side.

Please walk with us on this journey. It will not be an easy one, but it will be worth our while as measured by whatever comforts we can bring the dogs. Thank you everyone.
