WHAT THE CLUCK?

Like some of us, he was angry at first at his own reflection.

Like many of us, he likes to check himself out in the mirror (sometimes for up to an hour).

Like many of us, he loves his food!

Like a few of us, he often doesn’t get along with his neighbour roosters.

Like many of us, he gets curious when there is a new chick in the block.

Like all of us, he can feel pain.

Like all of us, he just wants to live safely.

Kannamma is one of our rescued roosters who was found by a roadside two years ago. He was 2 kilograms and around 5-7 weeks old, roughly the time when #broiler chickens are transported in trucks to be slaughtered for meat. Due to intensive selection for rapid growth, these chickens are very susceptible to health issues such as skeletal deformation and heart complications. #Kannamma is now a good 6 kilograms, on a restricted diet, and lives at ACRES.
