BIRD REHABILITATION AT ACRES

This little zebra dove couldn’t be reunited with his parents, so he’s getting the warmth he needs from our incubators as he should from his nest.

As he and other nestlings grow bigger, they are transitioned to large cages where they learn to feed before graduating to the aviary- a home to fruit-bearing plants to benefit frugivorous birds and a training ground for full independence!

As a charity organisation with limited resources, we strive to make the best of our facilities to accommodate these young birds who rehabilitate separately from the injured and sick. And with volunteers getting their hands dirty, the upgrading of our bird housing facility is currently underway, so watch this space for our brand new avian rehabilitation block!
