INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE FORESTS
One of the main causes of deforestation in Southeast Asia is the clearing of peatland for palm oil plantations, which creates a vast landscape prone to fires during dry season and results in transboundary haze that affects every living being in the region.
This year, People’s Movement to Stop Haze, in collaboration with Climate Conversation, aims to mobilise the public to support local eateries that use sustainable palm oil which is produced by companies that do not engage in irresponsible practices such as deforestation and burning. Public support for these companies will motivate more to adopt sustainable palm oil which helps to protect our forests and stop the haze.
From 21 to 28 March, show your love to forests by sharing a picture of you and your friends at VeganBurg and NomVNom using #LoveForest #GoHazeFree #SustainablePalmOil.
