HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WHALE SHARK DAY!

These graceful sharks are the largest fish in the sea, reaching over 12m in length! They are covered in beautiful star-like spots, but the reason for this remains a mystery.

The tide is turning for these gentle giants: while sadly still killed for their meat and fins, in many places whale sharks are now considered more valuable alive thanks to eco-tourism!

If you�re lucky enough to swim with them, choose an ethical operator that doesn�t allow the sharks to be chased or touched as this disturbs them. Wild animals deserve space and respect!

Long live these gentle giants of the sea!
