ZIP IS FREE, THANKS TO A KIND MEMBER OF PUBLIC
A few days ago, the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Team received a call from a member of public about a snake that was in a ziplock bag and left at the washing bay of a carpark. It was an unusual case, but based on what we know, caught Zip and sealed him in a bag and left him there to slowly die.
The lady who called us was nervous of snakes but based on our advice, she agreed to make a difference for poor Zip by opening the bag and letting him go free at a nearby grass patch. Our heartfelt thanks to her for saving Zips life!
Zip is a common house snake. The species is also commonly referred to as a wolf snake. Wolf snakes are commonly found in urban areas. They are a small species of snake who have adapted well to living in urban areas. Their primary diet is house lizards. Wolf snakes are non-venomous and are often recognizable by their chocolate brown color with white patterns. They also have a distinct white stripe across their neck area.
All of us can make a difference and protect our wildlife. Lets begin by learning to co-exist with them!
