Releasing Animals Into Wild Does More Harm Than Good

HOW TO ENSURE THAT TRUE KINDNESS IS SHOWN THIS VESAK DAY
Kindness begets kindness. But sometimes, our kind intentions might actually not be so kind after all and may be exploited. Take the act of releasing animals into the wild to celebrate Vesak Day: while the intention is noble, the act is actually very harmful to the animals and the environment. The release of non-native animals harms our native ecosystem. And often the animals sold for release have been cruelly captured from the wild.
This Vesak Day, lets ensure that true compassion and kindness pave the way to a better world for all!
Checklist:
Avoid participation in releases of non-native animals into our wild spaces, and of animals that have been captured from the wild.
Enjoy healthy vegetarian meals!
Embrace the good deeds of helping others whenever you can.
We wish everyone a happy Vesak Day holiday!

RELEASING animals into the wild might do them more harm than good and the public is reminded to refrain from doing so, said the National Parks Board (NParks) in a statement on Saturday.
