Spotlight on: Asiatic black bear
The Asiatic black bear, more affectionately known as the ‘moon bear’ for their distinct crescent-shaped patch on the chest, inhabits forested areas in eastern Asia.
A common victim of the cruel bear bile trade and one of the many victims of deforestation (loss of habitat), the moon bear is listed as vulnerable, according to the IUCN Red List.
