Nigel is a feral cat who has been living on the grounds of a restaurant. Wait staff used to feed him and the others in the colony, but when the business closed, Harmony Fund volunteers swooped in to begin providing food, water, winter shelters and spay/neuter. We are now able to relocate the cats to a barn sanctuary where they will live an idyllic life in complete safety and comfort.
Little Nigel may have lost his tail, but he hasn’t lost his appetite for wet food. Wish us luck as we trap him and several others on Monday night. They’ll first go to the veterinarian for routine care and then arrive at their new barn home where they will settle in using indoor/outdoor acclimation kennels that allow them to explore their new surroundings without running off in panic. These runs are generally used for 2 -4 weeks and once we see that the cats are relaxed and ‘at home’ we allow them to roam their new home more fully.
There may be days when money is tight, but rescuing animals in cold climates is always at the top of our list at this time of year and we owe a huge THANKS to our dearest supporters who make this work possible. Please feel free to visit our website at http://www.animalrescuechase.com/
