“This is Ella. She was found on the side of a road in this current condition. A very nice lady brought her to the Dirks Fund Golden Retriever shelter to see if we could help her. She was only 34 lbs. You could count every bone in her body. She had to be carried to the scale and to her dog bed because she had no strength. She could barely keep her head up. Still, she would give kisses and LOVED her new bed. The veterinarians assessment of her was “we will see if she makes it through tomorrow”.

We named her Ella and she did make it through the next day, and the next, and is now up to 52 pounds and has been adopted into a wonderful, loving home. Thank you kind person, for stopping to help this little girl!”- Linda Herrold of Illinois

Animal Rescue Chase

The Great Animal Rescue Chase celebrates the art of animal rescue with a worldwide race to rescue one million. It’s a free event, open to all, and is perhaps the only global animal rescue event aimed at helping any animal in distress, anywhere in the world. Our ambition is to create a culture of enthusiasm and pride in animal activism. We believe in teaching, by example, that there is a hero in each of us just waiting to be unleashed. Empowered animal lovers can not only save lives, but build the momentum for powerful animal welfare reform.
