“At the end of a difficult day when my big rig driving brother in law saw someone dump what looked like an animal on the side of a highway in the rain he quickly took the nearest exit and returned for it. It was a very dirty & tiny kitten that had made her way into the middle of a lane of traffic. Other drivers carelessly drove over her (she went between their tires) and blocking the lane with his truck was the only way he could stop them. Angry drivers honked and made rude gestures as they passed his truck until they each realized what he was doing. Sterling is the kind of truck he was driving and that became this poor filthy and terrified tiny kittens name. He noticed that all fur and skin were gone from her tail and promptly took her to a vet. The vet had to amputate her tail, but otherwise she was in good health. Sterling is warm, dry and healing now and she is a sweet and lovable baby. The vet said she was only about 4 weeks old.” – Desiree Ponton of Kansas

Animal Rescue Chase

The Great Animal Rescue Chase celebrates the art of animal rescue with a worldwide race to rescue one million. It’s a free event, open to all, and is perhaps the only global animal rescue event aimed at helping any animal in distress, anywhere in the world. Our ambition is to create a culture of enthusiasm and pride in animal activism. We believe in teaching, by example, that there is a hero in each of us just waiting to be unleashed. Empowered animal lovers can not only save lives, but build the momentum for powerful animal welfare reform.
