Our Volunteers From HELP Institute

We have been getting some help from volunteers from HELP Institute. As part of their assignment, they are required to write a short piece on their experience helping out at the shelter. Here’s one of them :

Name: Ting Yin Ning

Student ID: B1102927

From: HELP University

Today is my first day at Second Chance. Although it was tiring, I had plenty of fun at the center. I gave the dogs baths, cleaned the shelter and fed the dogs. At first, I could not bear the smell. But slowly, I was not afraid of the smell. All the dogs in the Second Chance are very “friendly”. When I step into the center, all the dogs were come over to me. It was like they were welcoming me. Almost all the dogs are stray dogs but they don’t bite.

Some of the dogs are still puppies. So, when we bathed them, we need to be more careful. I have not reared any dogs before. So, I really appreciate that time and the experience handling the dogs. This was the first time I bathed the dogs and also first time cleaned up the dog’s shelters. I truly feel that the people who run the shelter are dedicated and great. They help the dogs that have been abandoned by their owner.

Lastly, I want to thank for the Second Chance for giving me the opportunity for going there to help them. I hope that one day, people will know accept and understand the loyalty of dogs and the fact that they are humans’ best friend and appreciate them.

We welcome volunteers to help out with the work at the shelter. It truly is an experience to go through how we run the shelter. To volunteer, please fill up the form on our website.

Second Chance

Second Chance is a group of like-minded animal lovers who met through the Internet when they read of Aunty Kiew's plight.

They do their very best to render help whenever time permits and within their limited capacities. They hope to find good homes for as many homeless animals as possible. Currently, there are 100+ animals rescued and fostered by this group.
